Big Thanks to Rod Embry

Back in 1999, Bowling Green was home to its first Buddy Walk with around 80 participants. Jane Tichenor, Elaine Towe and Judy Johnson spearheaded the event, and it was a success!! Twelve years later, the Buddy Walk has grown to over 600 participants and has raised $30,000+ each year for the last 3 years!! We would like to take this opportunity to recognize Rod Embry for his efforts the last several years as Chairperson of our annual Buddy Walk and making it a huge success! Rod has dedicated his time and talents not only to serve DSSKY and the Buddy Walk, but also as a coach for Special Olympics here in South Central Kentucky. After the 2011 Walk, Rod stepped down from his role as Chairperson to begin enjoying his retirement from Valspar. Although he stepped down as chair, he is still VERY involved in planning this year’s Walk and hopefully will be for years to come. Rod is married to Carole and their son, Alex, is a proud member of the Rockerz Dance Troupe! So, Rod, thank you!
