More and more educators, therapists, and innovators are finding the benefits of dance and movement for individuals with Down syndrome: especially in areas of, balance, body control, personal space, and communication and social skills. Down Syndrome of South Central Kentucky will be sponsoring a one hour positive, creative, and fun-filled experience for those with Down Syndrome. Students will learn dance movements, coordination, and how to follow directions. Other benefits will be learning how to work together in a class, building confidence and strength, improving balance and focus, and an increased pride in their accomplishments. The class is led by Western Kentucky University’s special-ed and communication disorders majors. The class will meet once a month and there is no cost for participation.
2012 Fall Session will begin late September- after the Buddy Walk.
